Who is this simple one of the Gospel, to whom the Lord God reveals the mysteries of the Kingdom of God? Perhaps let us first think humbly about ourselves – do we know the mysteries of the Kingdom of Heaven? Surely few of us can answer that we know them very well. This means, then, that we do not belong to the group of these simple ones. But is this good or bad?

Christ praises His Father, who through the Holy Spirit reveals His mysteries to the chosen – that which our eye has not yet seen, nor ear heard. What, then, is this?

Today's Liturgy of the Word lifts a corner of the veil on this mystery. Saint Paul proclaims God's wisdom and desires to share it with us. This is not at all the wisdom of this world, which one might seek at universities, in books, or on the Internet. We will not find this wisdom there.

We remember that Paul had to fall from his horse as he rushed through his life, so that at last the light from heaven might illumine him. This is a sign for all of us of where we can draw God's wisdom from. Few – even the great of this world – are able to comprehend these mysteries. And are you capable of this, dear brother and dear sister?

People are not able to comprehend everything that God the Father has prepared for those who love Him. However, we can understand much more if we put our heart into the process of knowing God's mysteries. Only then will God illumine our mind through His Spirit. For God's Spirit can penetrate everything, even the depths of God Himself. All the more can this Holy Spirit penetrate the whole person.

The condition for knowing God's mysteries is therefore our openness. That is why it is worth thinking today: do you extend your hands to receive the gift of God's Spirit and God's wisdom? For only that which you truly desire can be given to you. And if you do not wish to receive God's wisdom, you will not have it.

The eyes of the Lord God look upon your entire life – from morning to evening, from your home to your workplace. He sees everything you do and say, and even can read your deepest thoughts and intentions. He knows whether you are a pious or impious person in all your conduct. He perceives how much holiness is in you, and how much sinfulness. You yourself, after all, know this better than anyone else.

Therefore, ask your Lord and Master to teach you His wisdom. So that the Heavenly Father may recognize in you that simple one of the Gospel, to whom it is worthwhile to reveal the mysteries, because he will preserve them forever in his heart.
